The question of crossbow correction is addressed by various simple models. One including the elasto plastic behaviour of the strip in the pot gives the required bending radius around stabilizer and corrector rolls to reach less that 1mm crossbow for a 1mm strip width.
The question of strip radius is approached by an elastic model of beams under tension. This approach is not totally correct but help to give guide lines. The present knowledge do not allow to address totally the elesto-platic behaviour due to the necessity to include all the internal stress generated in the hot bridle and sink roll.
The intersection of the ZERO crossbow maps and the estimated radius with penetration indicates the expected process window. It turns out that for some situations, the crossbow cannot be corrected totally. However, changing the roll geometry through their relative position allow to change the radius versus penetration relation. Therefore solutions can be obtained. It is predicted that the corrector roll penetration has to increase with the strip thickness and the steel hardness
