49, 41092 Sevilla, España.A single phase of (Ti,V) C solid-solution powder was synthesized by mechanical alloying of a mixture of pure Ti,V and graphite carbon powders in vacuum. The corresponding phase composition and crystallite size were investigated through X-ray diffraction (XRD). The results showed that the resulting powder had nano-scale particle size and no oxygen content. Moreover, Spark-Plasma-Sintering (SPS) has been employed for compaction of the synthesized powder at 1700 °C, with a high density of about 98 % of theoretical density.
Keywords: solid solution, SPS, (Ti,V) C.
