Description
The values of hardness (H) and of Young's modulus (E) were measured for the Ti-2.2 wt% Fe alloy using method nanoindentation. The alloy was annealed at three different temperatures, i.e. in three different regions of the Ti-Fe phase diagram (β; α+β; α+intermetallic). The samples were quenched in water and then subjected to high-pressure torsion (HPT). It is shown that the values of H and E are affected by the pre-annealing temperature of the alloy. Experimental dependences of the values H and E on the distance along the samples showed a radial dependence. The maximum values are fixed in the middle of the radius. Pre-annealing in the two-phase region (α+β) gives the maximum values for H and E, and the minimum values are obtained in the region (α+intermetallic).
