Description
We report the synthesis of silver (Ag) nano particles supported on zinc oxide (ZnO) thin films using a spray pyrolysis method. Thus, the present study focused on the low cost synthesis of these silver-zinc oxide (Ag-ZnO) nanoparticles which will have a broad-spectrum antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus epidermis.Ag nano particles supported on ZnO of varied molar ratios (1%,3%,5%,7%,10%) for Ag were synthesized by simple handmade Dual Action Gravity Feed Airbrush with flow rate was 5.75 ml/min onto a soda-lime glass substrate, previously treated by a mixture of HCl:HNO3 (1:2) for surface texturing. The crystal structure ,morphologycal analysis and composition of doped ZnO thin film was studied using Grazing incidence X-ray diffraction (GIXRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and the surface chemical analysis was investigated by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS).Particle size were carrry out using transmission electron microscopy (TEM).The minimun inhibitory concentration (MIC) of the nanoparticles were determined by visual turbidity analysis and optical density analysis. Finally, on the basis of the present investigation a plausible antibacterial mechanism of Ag-ZnO thin films deposited on glass was proposed.
