Description
The contribution describes the investigation carried out on novel steel powders based on the Fe-0,3C-1Cr-Mo alloy system to be processed by Laser-Powder Bed Fusion. Two powder batches have been studied in this respect, considering a reference gas atomized version and a variant of it produced by water atomization and post- treatment, with a modified chemistry.
The materials have been characterized after L-PBF processing to define their best response to heat treatments, their mechanical behavior and to characterize the degradation of the two powder when subjected to repeated recycling.
Results allowed to show that the water atomized variant of the steel powder feature good processability and performances comparable to the gas atomized alloy steel.
