20th International Forgemasters Meeting - IFM 2017

This paper describe the recent trends and development activity in the Japanese heavy open-die forging manufacture since the 19th International Forgemasters Meeting (IFM) held in Tokyo, Japan in 2014. In the three years since 2014, Japanese forgemasters have been developing new technologies aimed for high quality, cost reduction, greater productivity and efficiency. This paper focused on forged material production, new facilities installation and technical developments in the manufacturing process such as steel making, forging, heat-treatment and inspection. And also review and discuss about major problems facing the industries in Japan in next several years.
