Description

In the presentation, newly developed high strength aluminium alloys of AM Metals GmbH and its possibilities in automotive applications are shown. Specific loads and requirements are discussed in connection exemplary 3D printed applications. In a sophisticated development process, new aluminium alloys for 3 D printing with unique properties were invented. They combine the strengtz of high strength forged alloys like EN AW7075 with good corrosion properties like EN AW 6082.
Properties and challenges of the process development are discussed using microstructural analyses. Fatigue and creep is shown in relation to conventional wrought alloys.
The homogeneous alloyed powder is free of ceramic particles and can be reused easily without tendencies of separation. Together with simple recycability the new materials are a main factor of optimizing the LCA of the printed parts.
