Metal atomization is a multifaceted process as being represented by different technologies that allow for achieving input material for 3d metal printers, opening the door to new possibilities. The focus area of the 3D LAB company together with their own ATO technology of atomization using ultrasonic system and melting electric arc stand for the key to make the door widely-open while offering a totally innovative approach to powder technology. All this coming hand in hand with a summary of the physics of the droplet formation process, and key features determining the powder median diameter. The possibility to process metal alloys with a melting temperature surpassing 3000ºC enables the user to delve into an even wider range of applications, greatly increasing the efficiency of work directed at the development of new materials. Our intensive development work aimed at the optimization of the laboratory-use atomization process has resulted in successful production of both reactive and non-reactive powders on a smaller, yet still completely self-sufficient scale. The ATO Lab has been designed by industry-oriented researchers, and it is enclosed in a laboratory-sized device which is intended for the use research in development in a range of powder metallurgy areas. Next generation ultrasonic atomizer allows for the production of exceptionally small minimal amounts of spherical powders with a very narrow particle size distribution, as well as obtaining significantly higher yields through continuous operation. With a small footprint form, the device is possible to be used even in restricted spaces. Along with its innovative technology and no requirements for sophisticated infrastructure, it ensures exceptionally low operating costs and quick return on the investment (ROI)
